My project is an update to some of my teaching materials. I鈥檝e been a teacher for 14 years. Some of my items are needing to be replaced or updated. On my list, you will find things for STEM activities, 鈥減op-its鈥 for small group (we can break apart words into sounds with these), birthday celebration items, and a few things for classroom management (desk pets). STEM activities are an ideal hands-on solution for early finishers, morning work, centers, fine motor practice, indoor recess, or positive reinforcement of behavior. They are also a creative and developmentally appropriate form of engineering for elementary students. Desk pets are the newest form of classroom management strategy. These come in the form of erasers! So simple yet so captivating for students. They can read to, work with, or trade with friends! Students are able to pick food, housing, and friends (other erasers) for their pets based on success within the classroom. Who doesn't like to be noticed on their birthdays? Birthday crowns, pencils, and goodies will make any 6 year old feel special!
