Flexible seating and options for writing materials allow students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During work time where my students write independently, they get to choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Currently, my students have very limited choices about their seating and many feel uninspired at their desks.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices, as well as provide them with writing materials that will allow them to engage meaningfully with their work. The lap desks and clipboards will allow students to move around the classroom and even give the option to bring work into our school's outdoor space! The floor cushions will make the ground a more comfortable option, too. Providing students will notebooks and pencils give a much-needed break from their technology, and dry erase pockets help with peer editing and brainstorming!
I have seen how choice can positively affect my students' work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
