These books will provide my students with culturally relevant text and an opportunity to meet a real life author who too had some struggles like them and just like the students, persevered. The books will be able to go home with the students so they can continue learn and share their experiences with their families. Many of my students don't have books at home so this is an opportunity for them to begin building a library. This project will also provide a form of social emotional support. Students are going through a lot and here is a great way to bridge that communication gap.
