Play is an integral part of cognitive development and critical thinking skills. Through play, kids build relationships, become creative, practice dexterity, and learn new skills. During literacy center time, my students are practicing reading and writing skills through play. My students use literacy toys to make meaning out of letters and words.
Keeping centers up to date and innovative will help to keep students engaged and on task. My students will practice alphabetic order, letter names and sounds, letter formation, spelling words, and phonemic awareness when using these learning toys. These learning toys are fun to play with and will keep my class coming back for more.
