Each classroom needs a collective space for students to gather and work together. Most of our learning takes place on the classroom rug. During our time on the carpet we are listening to stories, exploring new concepts, and collaborating with our peers. We use this space to have Morning Meetings, participate in ClearTouch smart board activities, listen to read alouds, as well as use the carpet as a space to work together during our play-based learning centers.
A classroom rug is a space where students can learn, play and collaborate.
This rug will give my students a space to create a classroom community while also allowing them to feel comfortable. Being comfortable while learning gives students the chance to be engaged and focused during lessons. Some of my favorite moments while teaching have happened on the classroom rug. It is a space where a group of students become a class family.
