Kids don't hate reading, they just hate reading boring books. These books are all engaging and thoughtfully selected for rich discussions. Students will pick a book to read and have weekly conferences with other students reading the same book. These literature circle book clubs allow the students to both engage in thoughtful conversation, and pick what book they want to read. By giving students a choice as to which book they'd like to read and discuss with their classmates, they take ownership over their own learning. We need multiple copies of each book so that students will have others to discuss with in class. It's truly a treat to listen in on the conversations students have when they take ownership of their own learning!
