I recently attended an amazing five-day training on structured teaching and how to create a well-designed choreography for my classroom of exceptional learners. It is through intentional design that I can best support my group of diverse students, and tailor the classroom for individual learners and the whole class community at large.
Next fall, students will encounter a new space for learning, one that is engaging, safe, and supports their academic and social-emotional needs while teaching functional life skills. These skills will prepare them for the journey of young adulthood and beyond.
The room dividers will provide safety and privacy as students practice independently accessing spaces for self-regulation and de-escalation. Sensory tools/manipulatives and fidgets will provide students with calming activities in these spaces.
