Yearbooks are forever, unfortunately, cameras are not. This past year my students were not able to take pictures and had to rely on student-self-submitted pictures. This year we will be back on campus and ready to snap away. When finally getting to see the yearbook cameras, the majority of the cameras are outdated or broken (not due to student fault, just passing around from teacher to teacher, room to room, and usage over time).
Photography is a way to capture a moment in time forever.
When teaching, I love to emphasize story-telling through the pictures in a yearbook. I spend a couple of months teaching my students how to compose pictures and look for different angles. Having an updated camera will allow my students to take pictures with ease. Additionally, not all of my students have access to phones or cameras to take pictures, so the camera will allow for students to have a chance to experience photography that they never had before.
The accessories and battery will help ensure a long usage life for the camera, so it becomes an investment for future yearbook students. These supplies will help my driven students create a visual history of our school that will last a lifetime.
