With kindergarteners, repetition is key. Sitting on the carpet during morning meetings gives them a great start to their day and will make a lasting impression on them. Having an easel where I can be close to them and allow them to see my lesson closely will allow them to feel like an active member of the lesson.
Students will also be able to come up to the easel to create new sight words, practice their phonics skills, count using ten frames, and eventually add and subtract. There are multiple skills that can be taught using an easel during carpet time.
