There is no greater gift I can think of giving my students than the ability to read fluently and with confidence. All the books that I have chosen are grade-level texts that the class and I will read together during shared reading.
Shared reading gives all students access to grade-level reading material with teacher support. It allows struggling readers to read books they may not be able to read on their own. As well as, provide advanced readers opportunities to build fluency through repeated readings moving from more to less support.
After reading the books together as a class the books will be moved to the classroom library where students can shop for a good book and get cozy in our classroom reading nook.
