These new books will support the classroom community I strive to create. Offering students high-interest texts that connect to the curriculum will be amazing. My students love graphic novels and manga, and they will be provided the opportunity to explore their interests with these new books. These graphic novels will increase engagement, interest, and a love of learning in my students. Their images and accessible text will also appeal to some students who may be reluctant readers or below grade-level at the beginning of the school year. All of my students will have a chance to explore the text, visuals, and themes of these graphic novels. Students will also have a chance to strengthen their classroom community with reading groups, connections to art and their artistic abilities, and rich discussions.
