My vision is to create a lending library that teachers can come to borrow books to share with their classes. This won't just be any lending library, but a library of books that focus on diverse people and characters, such as people with autism, people who are blind, or people who use wheelchairs. Some of the books can also be used as tools to teach children about emotions and how to identify and respond to their emotions. I also often use books as part of my speech-language therapy lessons.
How powerful it would be for my students to see people like them in the books that are read to them! These books will not just benefit my students but will help all of the students on my campus by giving them exposure to people who may have lives that may be different, or even similar, to their own.
By donating to my project, you will be making a positive impact on all of the educators and students on my campus. Books are such powerful tools that can give us a glimpse into someone else's life or can teach us something new. I hope that, by having these books available, we can continue to foster a sense of inclusivity and compassion among our students. Thank you for considering making a donation!
