The students will use these activities during our preschool center groups. The children will have opportunities to practice sorting different objects by color, sort objects by letter, and sort by number. We will have a letter of the week, the month's color, the shape of the month, and the number of the month. These activities will help complement our curriculum. With all of my students being on IEP's, they all have goals that focus on these types of skills, and they need to have hands-on activities to use throughout their day to build these skills. Children learn while using their senses and these activities really encourage this type of learning.
My students will also benefit from having sensory times available to them throughout their day, especially when they feel overwhelmed or frustrated. They can go to the sensory box and pick an object to help them calm down.
