Let’s face it - high school science wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea. However, I rarely find a student who does not enjoy a lab day. Hands on activities not only get the students up out of their desks, they also help students retain the content that they learned, while also inspiring them to continue to be learners. What I have requested in this project includes one physics activity that can be used more than once to teach the first unit of physics (1 dimensional motion). The other two activities will be for my biology classes. One will provide evidence to the students that UV radiation damages DNA, and the importance of DNA repair. The second will be used for the students to be able to explore the differences between aerobic and anaerobic respiration, and revisit the carbon cycle which many students tend to struggle with. I believe this kit will greatly benefit those students by making it more hands on and exciting!
