The goal of this project is to help me, as a new teacher, equip my very first classroom with organizational tools, classroom staples, and learning resources/materials. Some items will stay in my classroom for many years and benefit many future classes including manipulatives/games, organization tools, desk, and any reusable classroom materials. The desk, file trays, and bins/drawers will also help me on a day-to-day basis keep student work, important documents, lesson plans, and classroom materials organized while providing routine and helping our days run smoothly. The standing desk also puts me in a position that gives me a better view of students no matter where they sit - even when I'm using a DocuCam!
Some things will help me provide an appropriate and equitable education for my students. With materials like pencils, highlighters, sticky notes, iPad chargers/earbuds, dry-erase boards, scissors, crayons, etc. my students will always have access to the things they need to complete lessons and activities. Additionally, not all families are able to purchase such materials needed for school and/or do not have these materials in their homes. I would like to be able to give my students everything they need for success in the classroom and if necessary send some materials home for them to keep. My students deserve supplies that they need to have a successful year regardless of their socioeconomic status.
Lastly, the learning games will engage students while strengthening their math stills. Some items like base ten blocks, dice, and other math manipulatives will help me incorporate multiple fun lessons and activities that cater to students' varying interests, needs, and levels. It will supplement their learning and allow students to visualize new math content while demonstrating their learning!
All of these items will help Ms. T's class achieve success this year and beyond!
