I will be teaching this novel to the entire class. We will use it as an example of a strong fiction novel. We will discuss plot devices as well as figurative language and analyze the plot while also understanding the social implications the novel has for today's student.
I will not only be lighting a fire in the student for a future love of literature but use this novel to teach discussion tactics as well. We will hold a socratic style seminar to assess learning at the end of the unit.
