I want to be able to use these books with my first graders. These books will help my students get excited about reading and take them into a journey away from what our world is, even if it’s for a little while. I also want to be able to provide them with different books in which they feel represented and build an understanding of respect for each other. I want our class to feel like a community and our relationships be strengthen. I want them to feel pride in what they read.
