It is important that my students learn to grow healthy food and nurture nature. Given that many of my students live in food deserts and neighborhoods where plants and gardening are often neglected, it is vital that they learn to use nature as a tool to provide food, beauty, clean air, and happiness. In addition, our school has a lot of closed spaces where students are not able to view the outdoors, so this would help to improve social-emotional behavior, learning, and the overall classroom environment. These materials will enable students to learn basic gardening and nurturing of live plants. The light coverings will create a warm and safe environment for learning. Further, the materials will teach students responsibility for they must care for the plants and monitor the garden.
