By implementing these literature circles, students will be able to actively engage in reading and writing strategies that activate higher-order thinking skills. Avid readers are able to analyze and synthesize new information across multiple content areas. Students will be able to participate in literature circles that include roles: discussion directors, illustrators, travel tracers, word wizard, connector, summarizer, literary illuminator. Our students yearn for stories that reveal an authentic voice, challenge themselves, and seek understanding for a community that reflects their diverse identity, celebrates their exceptionalities, and advocates for their hopes and dreams.
