The COVID-19 pandemic has forced unavoidable changes in nearly every school nationwide, with special education being one of the most severely affected. Educators all around the world were forced to adapt to our changing environment and find a way to meet students' social and academic needs. As we begin to return to a sense of normalcy, the choices we make as educators in the upcoming school year can be life changing for our students.
It is more important now than ever that our classroom environment is conducive to student learning. Our particular class population is made up of students who require non traditional supports to succeed. This includes multisensory supports to ensure students maintain focus in a calm and welcoming environment. Through the use of these tools, students are better able to focus, follow directions, ask questions, and learn.
