The materials selected will help students engage in learning about art and art history. We don't have an art teacher at our school and it is important to me that students learn about art history and create art themselves. With these materials, I will be able to send home a set of crayons and watercolors, so they can continue to create as they become inspired.

Reading is the most important foundation in first grade. Much of our literature in our SFA curriculum is fiction. Scholastic News will help encourage my students to not only read nonfiction, but learn about world and current events as well.
I've added a couple of books that are based in Hawaii so that we can read about the culture and place where we live.
