These books will help grow my students' desire to read. These books have been chosen with my students' interest in mind. In past years, my students have LOVED listening to and reading the "I Survived" series in my classroom. I unfortunately only have a few "I Survived" books and my students have been unable to check out books from the library due to COVID.
Having an entire set of informational text will expand my students knowledge of the world around them. It will expose my students to topics and interests they might not of known they had. It will also support their informational writing and research process.
As of right now, I do not have enough copies of the chosen, popular read aloud for every student in my classroom to be able to follow along and read from their own book. Having enough books for each student will increase their comprehension, fluency, motivation, listening and overall skills as a reader and learner.
I hope you see that the books selected are much more than just books, they are a way to open the world to my students.
