High-quality, high-interest decodable readers will help me provide the most effective, evidence-based reading instruction to my students. The wide range of reading abilities in my classroom requires a wide range of reading materials to reach every learner at the zone of proximal development. The pandemic has widened the range of reading abilities in the third-grade classroom, and these books will help me work with students to start to fill in the learning gaps that exist. The latest reading research (the science of reading) indicates that decodable readers allow students to practice the most important foundational reading skill.
