The number of students who have experienced housing and food instability (as a result of the pandemic's impact on our heavily tourism-based economy) has increased dramatically this past year. When asked what they would like most as they return to face-to-face learning, the kids say they want to reconnect with other kids and want a chance to just have fun. This past year has been marked by significant stress; I would like to start an after-school gaming club as a way to give kids that chance to find some joy in life again!
