My rising 6th grade students are eager and motivated to return to some sort of normalcy this fall. During online learning, students struggled to become motivated when writing. So, I added PBL at the end of our poetry unit. Together, our class published 19 blackout poems that depicted several themes. The common thread for the poems was the shared experience of feeling like COVID-19 brought too much change. This year, I know exactly how to motivate them! I wish to have each student build a writing portfolio that they can be proud of by the end of our narrative unit. Please support this project by helping to ensure that each student has a Fire tablet that they can take home to work on their portfolio this year.
