This will be my first year teaching elementary grade science, and I am determined to give my kids the opportunity to learn and explore in the hands-on way they missed while learning from home. Using these materials, the students will plan and conduct investigations, develop and build models, take, analyze and interpret data, and learn about the Earth, energy, ecosystems, engineering, and matter. We will practice our Mindful Habits, tackle the NGSS, and have a ton of fun all at once! The students will use the scales to discover that matter is conserved in physical and chemical changes, the thermometers to realize that there really is energy trapped in our food, the plastic tubs to create their models of the earth's systems, the solar cells to engineer a solar vehicle to take to the races, and much more. The NGSS is all about students achieving the standards through investigating. These supplies will arm them with the tools to do just that!
