After a year of virtual and hybrid learning, I want to give my students more hands-on science learning experiences. As part of second grade NGSS, students will learn about the needs of plants to grow, as well as the processes of land change, such as erosion.
With these new hydroponics kits and erosion models, students will get to make predictions, create experiments, make observations and draw conclusions based on hands-on plant growing and make erosion happen on a small scale.
My hope is that students will become interested in planting, gardening, eating more vegetables and seeing where food comes from. I also want students to becoming more aware of the world around them and to become curious about landforms and the earth.
