The most important reason these novels were selected to use in the classroom is because both of these novels foster a love of reading! Each of these novel sets will be used to deliver and support effective classroom instruction to my fifth grade students. We will use the class sets of novels as the focus for two different reading units. These novels were selected because they will engage students in reading as well as support students in mastering grade-level content. It is important to teach students specific content, but it is most important to provide students with novels that will capture their imagination and encourage them to keep reading!
