Students will choose a topic that they are passionate about. Once they find their passion, they do research through reading articles, interviewing experts, watching informational videos, reading the newspaper, etc. Through their research they find out what "issues" there might be in their topics. For example if their passion is art, and they learn that there is a lack of art education in schools, then they will focus on that issue.
Students work in groups to develop an "action" to help people in their community. This may include teaching art lessons to younger students, presenting a "Sports Assembly" at school to have students understand the importance of exercise for their health, doing a "Bring Your Own Fork" to school day to promote the idea of using less plastic, etc. Students will use the ipads to make videos to help spread awareness about their issues. They can also use the iPads to conduct interview virtually with experts in the subject that they want to learn more about.
