I chose to ask for models of both animal/plant cells as well as the steps of meiosis because these structures and processes are difficult for my students to grasp without getting a first-hand look. These models will continue to enhance the print-rich and virtual lab classroom that I strive to create. My classroom is a place that my students really enjoy - I captivate their attention by using an array of resources, including texts and news articles, as well as labs and field trips. However, one thing they are missing is the visual aspect of life's structures. All of these models and resources have been chosen with my students in mind - I want them to get the "awe" effect when looking into a microscope - seeing first-hand slides they would never have seen before.
I am super excited to bring more visuals into the classroom. I hope to use these as educational tools and reference them when learning about life structures and composition.
