Every year my students learn about the components of blood. They learn what a red blood cell is, what a white blood cell is, and what makes up the plasma. This is a very difficult unit to learn about because it can get very complicated! So, to make it fun and engaging, I have my students type their own blood. The blood typing lab is one of their favorites and students look forward to it all year! I have even had students tell me they take my class just for the fun labs that we do. Most students begin my class not knowing what to expect and have little interest in the medical field. Most of them finish my class excited about pursuing a healthcare degree.
