Reading and writing are foundational skills students need but are often challenging for students. The best way to get students motivated to read and write is finding reading materials that have fun topics, engaging, and students can relate to. One of the items in my project to support my students is Scholastic News. Scholastic News is cross-curricular, relates to current and relevant topics, and is exciting for students. Students will be able to use Scholastic News to support them in class with reading and writing. Students then will be able to take the Scholastic News home and share with it with their families and have meaningful conversations at home about what they learned.
In this ever-changing world it is important for students to understand what is going on and know how to express their thoughts and ideas about it.
Another item is flexible seating/disc to provide options for students academic needs. Flexible seating allows students to help them focus. During independent work times they choose a location in the classroom that works for them.
Other items listed in this project are timers, giant magnetic notebook paper, counters, and pencil grips. Timers help students are aware of their surroundings and organization. The giant magnetic notebook paper folder provides visual examples to guide students in their writing and activities. Counters are an all-around tool for reading, writing, and math and pencil grips support the development of handwriting skills.
Thank you for your time by reading my project and your consideration in making my students learning experience fun, engaging, and relevant with your donation.
