In our social studies class, we like to engage students in various activities meant to take students away from just sitting and absorbing information. Since students spend most of the day sitting in normal desks we would like to add some more flexible seating options to heighten engagement. We would like to add some standing desks and high stools to our classroom to give students an option to spend their time in a different physical position during class.
Especially in the new reality of a Covid-impacted classroom, the students are not as easily able to move around and engage in activities that would otherwise keep them on their toes. These alternative seating options would offer another avenue for students to move away from just sitting at a normal desk. Additionally we hope to get some more headphones for our classroom. Students may not always have their own headphones for self-directed work using their computers, so it would be helpful for us to have some to lend out.
