We want books that are both windows and mirrors for our students, books that reflect who they are and who they can become in the world. My school has children who come from so many diverse backgrounds and these students deserve books that reflect them and their varying cultures and backgrounds! Our students need a plethora engaging books that support discussions about emotions, diversity, and inclusivity at their disposal in our classroom library! We want them to have fun and engaging learning opportunities as they learn to make their way in the world. Our students need beautiful picture books, chapter books, and graphic novels to inspire them to dream big. Reading time is wonderful, but sometimes students have a hard time staying in one spot to read. 20% of the students in my class also have special needs, therefore I have asked for a couple items to help support them staying in one spot for reading time- kick bands and wobble cushions. My hope is that with these items and these books my students will have the space to excel in school.
