The English department at my school has carefully developed assignments that strive to foster a life-long love of reading through an emphasis on independent reading and engagement with books outside of class. Unfortunately, the majority of books in my classroom are old, outdated, taped-up, and worn out copies that do not excite students. Students in my classes do not always have the resources at home to find books that do excite them at home.
The books on this project list will be the foundation of an updated classroom library that will be open to all middle school students at my school, giving everyone equal access to relevant and captivating reading material. Although my school is planning for in-person learning, in the event that we do need to go distance learning, these books would be available for students to check out and take home with them.
