My students will learn Hawaiian cultural practices for sustainable living and stewardship towards the land. A lot of our learning will occur outside of the classroom and just like the students need supplies in the classroom they will also need supplies for outside of the classroom. These materials will give the students an opportunity to be more hands on with their learning. While they are working they can make observations and deepen their knowledge of the land. Science and math will be integrated in this project through a Hawaiian cultural lense. These materials can be used at home as the students will learn sustainability for themselves and their families. In addition, they will learn responsibility in taking care of the land and proper care of the materials. If they have right tools they can do anything!
