The second grade classes will team up with the eighth grade classes to create pilina in an effort to develop positive practices, role models and character education through literacy and expressive writing and drawing. It is especially important as we return to face to face instruction to build a community big buddy system for all stakeholders, The process will also be available virtually for those unable to attend school on campus.
We will begin with all about me activities to share, mutual letter or note writing exchange to develop expressive writing and drawing skills to share and culminate at end of school year with a ohana event to share our writing portfolios, art and friendships built.
The items provided by this funding source will allow students to engage at their own level in literacy, writing and social emotional development in a variety of ways. Other direct benefits will splash over into the eighth grade students lives by nurturing, guiding and taking pride in helping a younger fellow student of Kamaile Academy.
