Math can be a difficult subject for some and easier for others. That is why creating a fun and engaging learning environment is integral to student success. In my classroom, we use collaborative exploratory learning to discover sixth grade mathematical concepts.
As a teacher, my goal is to create fun and engaging lessons that encourages fluency, mathematical discourse and deeper connections. To help students who have different learning styles, I often use videos for visual and auditory learners, and manipulatives and models for kinesthetic learners. My goal is to understand my students needs and to create opportunities for all students to understand, make connections and extend their learning whenever possible.
Having an iPad and accessories will help me to be able to annotate easily on documents for activities such as Numbers Talk and the curriculum we use. With students from all cultures, backgrounds and abilities, it will also provide me a way to engage with students and their different needs, showing videos or examples, as I walk around the classroom.
