State standards mandate students keep a steady beat and learn strong vs. weak beats. This is best taught with small hand drums. I have no small hand drums for students to use. Students have to clap their hands which quickly get sore and tired. Having hand drums would help them have a strong musical foundation to become life-long musicians. Keeping a steady beat is directly tied to learning to read and write. There are scientific studies that prove keeping a beat helps students learn how to sound out words. I really look forward to having drums for the students to use!
