As a math teacher, having students working collaboratively and talking to each other about math daily is a key to success. Every year, I have my students work in partners and in groups, but adding flexible seating is going to have many advantages. Many of the students will be much more engaged in their work and therefore, the students will be motivated to work harder daily.
Having stability balls at my back counter while students are engaged in their technology station during their math rotations is also very important. When I assign work on the Chromebooks, it is differentiated for each student, so it is imperative so the students are focused and engaged.
For the last 16 years, I have seen how well the students can work when they can work together and can be in a comfortable environment. I am trying to let my students work in that same environment at different times throughout the school day for a more positive school year ending with success.
