I am honored to serve as the Psychiatric Social Worker for the Black Student Achievement Plan at Hollywood High School. Hollywood has been without specialized culturally affirming mental wellness serves for several years. I am working to provide a safe and welcoming space for our Black students to celebrate their inherent Black excellence. This upcoming school year I received a full classroom to build a wellness space. The room is 100% empty and I am in need of this community support to build my vision for a culturally affirming, safe space, for our students to build connections with each other and supportive adults. I provide mental health education and referrals to community based services, teach movement and meditation, and run support groups. All students benefit from culturally affirming wellness services!
