Many of the items in this project are books that will help create a print-rich environment that I wish to create. My students love to read and create their own stories throughout the day. Although they are in preschool they can often be found flipping through the books and using pictures to help tell a story. The cd player and headphones are going to be used as a way for students to independently listen to books while following along in the book they have. I want my students to be able to find books that interest them and be able to have a sense of independence while reading the text.
Many of my students come from low income families and are very guarded when they come into my classroom. They come not knowing how to act when things don't go their way or when they get angry. This is why another big part of my project is the Kids Cushion Storage Bench. This is going to be used in the calming area where my students can go and gain control of their emotions before joining back with the classroom. I have already purchased items that in addition to the bench will help create a calming area away from other students and having a place to compose themselves helps develop skills that allow them to express and control their emotions for years to come.
Overall, I want to create an area that my students will never doubt they are loved and a place where they are comfortable to go on adventures and learn. I hope this next year will be filled with endless adventures and personal growth for all my students.
