First-Grade students learn how to socialize and share ideas. They are asked to share their likes, dislikes, worries, and ideas to problem solve. The past year and a half, during COVID, students have had a difficult time doing so, due to mask mandates. Projecting your voice though a mask is difficult, and hearing a fellow classmate is not easy, especially when all students are 3 feet apart and facing the same direction.
The Qball 2.0 will be a great asset to our first-grade classroom, as it will allow students to share their thoughts and needs in a fun way. The ball, which contains a microphone, can be thrown, caught, and used to project the children's voices while staying protected against airborne germs. During Morning Meeting, the ball can be tossed and used to tell about themselves and build community. During whole group lessons, the ball can be thrown, caught, and used to share ways to solve a problem. The voice can be easily heard by the entire class.
