I remember being an anxious student in the 90s before adults realized that kids suffered from anxiety too. As a teacher, I recognize that many of our students have different issues that keep them from being their best. I have kiddos from ADHD to ELL, with many different issues in between. Help me give my students the manipulatives they need to help them focus and quiet their minds down so that they can learn. Help me communicate with my students whose first language isn't English so that they can feel supported and have a sense of belonging. Help me teach my students that school isn't a bad, scary place with teachers who don't get it; but it's instead a place where at least one adult recognizes their struggles and see who they can be behind their issues.
