My students are from an underserved community that doesn't have money to spend on many "extras." These learners are going to school, working, and taking care of siblings every day with little time to sit down and relax. Lack of time can lead to reluctant readers. Graphic novels make classic and modern literature accessable to readers of all levels. I'm gathering grapic novels to use in aiding the teaching of classic novels in class, and make the written word more than an assignemnt. My goal is to make all learners readers.
