My students come from a rural location with not many opportunities close by, and most of our students qualify for free and reduced lunches. Our school is very supportive but limited in resources. The students are supportive of each other and excited about what the band program is doing. My students remain positive even when our equipment falls apart and I know they would be thrilled anything shiny and new. This is one of the most positive groups of students I have had the opportunity to work with and I am constantly impressed by their dedication and drive. They encourage each other and push each other to be better. They are excited about being able to show their school that they should be taken seriously and that band is cool again.
