Our school's Associated Student Body (ASB) class is made up of 7th and 8th grade students. Their participation in the organization is completely voluntary, and it is constantly apparent that they thrive in an association which exists to make a difference not only on campus, but in their community. We are a Title 1, low income school, primary made up of English learners, but any economic barriers we have had to scale, are conquered by the indomitable spirit these students bring with them to ASB each day. They have built a community within the community, with a mission to bring pride to our school, and invigorate the student body to participate in events they plan. These events, which keep students in a safe, fun, and educational environment are a paradigm shift from the idle time many students in the past have had as a reason to get into drugs, gangs, or other nefarious activities. The smiles these students convey when working hard and achieving, is a constant reward!
