I teach Intensive Reading all day long; this means I teach students who struggle with reading. Not only do they struggle with comprehension but they also struggle to read the words on the page. Many of students have disabilities, which only adds to their struggles. On top of that, they come from low socioeconomic background and may have a rough home life. I strive to make my classroom a safe and welcoming environment because of this. I work with them in small groups to teach them strategies to become better readers. Sometimes, their behavior or disability impacts their learning but I keep trying to work with them. My hope is to have a positive impact on students as they enter my Harry Potter classroom.
