Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) occupations are projected to grow over two times faster than the total for all occupations in the next decade. In order to have our students prepared to fill these high-demand positions, they need to be prepared. One of the best ways to prepare them is with hands-on learning opportunities. My school is a public charter school, which means we do not have the same funding opportunities as our public school counterparts. Often when deciding what to fund, my school has to make the difficult decision to curb programs such as STEM.
With this project, students will have the opportunity to learn about STEM in a hands-on way while including more reading strategies that will help to close gaps in reading and other subject areas.
