I am a school social worker that will be working with students grades k-5. My role at the school is to support students with their mental health to continue on their academic journey with success. I teach students important social-emotional skills to learn how to cope with everyday stressors and trauma. We often work on verbalizing their emotions appropriately for them not to have problems in the classroom and have more opportunities to learn. We often play therapeutic games and activities for them to learn these different and critical skills.
The requested supplies will help me when I am counseling students. The white board, journals, art materials, timer, and conversation cube will help me facilitate individual and group counseling sessions. Emotional Rollercoaster game board, social emotional reading books, mindfulness cards, and sensory toys will support students in learning positive coping skills. The Trauma-Informed Social-Emotional Toolbox and CBT Toolbox will assist me in implementing evidence based practices with students.
I'm hopeful about establishing rapport with my students and feel that the requested supplies can help us start the year out positively!
